  • Most HR policies don't fail dramatically. They just quietly fall behind. They’re written for a different time, a different size of organization, or a different understanding of what good employment practice actually looks like.

A Harbourside HR policy review gives your organization a clear, honest picture of where your policies stand and what they need to say. We work through your existing documentation: employee handbooks, job descriptions, codes of conduct, performance review processes, and related policies, assessing them against current legislation, sector norms, and the day-to-day realities of your workplace.

What you get isn't a collection of generic templates. It's a tailored set of recommendations and where needed, revised policies that are clear, compliant, and written in language your people can actually understand and act on.

Good HR policy does more than protect the organization. It signals to employees what kind of workplace they're actually in, and when done well, sets the conditions for people to show up fully and do their best work.

If your policies are overdue for a review, we can help.

  • Performance management works best when it's woven into the fabric of how an organization operates day to day and not treated as an annual ritual that everyone quietly dreads and gets through as quickly as possible.

We work with organizations to build performance systems that are genuinely useful. That means connecting organizational goals to team and individual expectations, creating processes for regular, honest feedback, and making sure performance conversations happen throughout the year rather than in one uncomfortable meeting.

Where it's helpful, we also provide training for supervisors and managers, equipping them to conduct reviews with confidence, and to navigate the difficult conversations that good leadership sometimes requires.

We also work directly with Boards of Directors to design and administer evaluations of senior staff, including Executive Directors, Chief Executive Officers, and Chief Administrative Officers. Using a structured online assessment tool, we gather input from board members across key areas including leadership, governance, financial stewardship, strategic thinking, human resources, and communications.

The result is a clear, credible picture of performance and a productive conversation about what comes next.
